■ Research Integrity Assessment
All manuscripts submitted to JBPH undergo research integrity screening as part of the editorial process. Depending on the nature of the submission, checks may include plagiarism and text similarity, duplicate or redundant publication, authorship and contribution, ethical approval and informed consent, conflicts of interest, data and image integrity, citation practices, and potential fabrication or falsification of research findings. Manuscripts that raise concerns may be returned to the authors for clarification, subjected to further editorial investigation, or rejected in accordance with internationally recognized publication-ethics standards. Where appropriate, JBPH follows relevant COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidance and other established standards of responsible research and scholarly publishing.
■ Submissions from Editorial Board Members
JBPH welcomes submissions from Editorial Board members; however, such manuscripts are subject to the same rigorous peer-review, editorial, ethical, and research-integrity standards as all other submissions. To ensure impartiality and avoid conflicts of interest, the board member involved in the manuscript is excluded from all editorial decisions and peer-review processes relating to the submission. An independent editor is assigned to manage the manuscript, and the submission is assessed independently without preferential treatment.
1. Research Ethics
Authors must adhere to ethical standards during data collection and manuscript preparation. All submitted work must be original, owned by the authors, and not require third-party permissions.
2. Ethical Approval
Studies involving humans or animals must include an ethics statement in the Methods section:
- Animal studies must follow institutional and international ethical guidelines, with efforts to minimize suffering.
- Human studies must be approved by an appropriate ethics committee, adhering to the Declaration of Helsinki. Any exemptions or deviations must be justified and documented.
3. Informed Consent
Informed consent is required for identifiable human data or images. Authors must ensure participants’ confidentiality and provide consent statements. Exceptions apply to non-identifiable data (e.g., x-rays), but reuse of previously published images must include appropriate permissions and acknowledgments.
4. Gels and Blots
Images must be high-quality and unaltered. Manipulation of gels or blots (e.g., splicing lanes) is prohibited and considered misconduct. Include molecular markers, controls, and replication information in figure legends.
5. Clinical Trial Registration
Clinical trials must be registered in a public registry before patient enrollment (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov). Observational studies are exempt. Unregistered trials may be rejected unless protocol publication is cited.
6. Publication Ethics
JBPH adheres to ICMJE (The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) guidelines. Authors must follow ethical practices in authorship, data integrity, and conflict of interest disclosure.
7. Authorship
Authorship requires contributions to conception, analysis, drafting, and final approval. Changes in authorship are not allowed after provisional acceptance.
8. Acknowledgments
Credit non-author contributors, funding sources, and material suppliers with full details.
9. Plagiarism
JBPH uses plagiarism detection software. A maximum similarity of 15% (excluding references) is allowed. Plagiarism will lead to rejection and potential blacklisting.
10. Reviewer Suggestions
Authors may recommend or exclude reviewers. Editors will verify conflicts of interest.
11. Conflicts of Interest
All conflicts must be declared. Editors and reviewers must recuse themselves in case of potential bias.
12. Permissions
Reusing published material requires written permission from the copyright holder. Authors are responsible for obtaining and submitting these.
13. Declaration
Submissions must not be under review or published elsewhere. Violations will result in rejection and blacklisting.
14. Copyright & Licensing
JBPH articles are published under a CC BY 4.0 license, allowing free reuse with proper attribution. Authors retain copyright.
15. ORCID
Corresponding must provide an ORCID ID during submission.
16. Citations
Cite relevant literature appropriately. Citation manipulation or excessive self-citation is unethical and may result in rejection.
17. Post-Acceptance
Accepted papers require APC payment within one week. Authors receive a galley proof for final correction. Major changes post-acceptance is not allowed.
18. Open Access & APC
JBPH is an open-access journal. APC applies post-acceptance. Waivers or discounts may be available.
19. Corrections
Corrections are issued for significant errors that do not compromise study integrity. Author involvement is preferred but not always required.
20. Retractions
JBPH is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.

Retracted articles will remain online but clearly marked as “Retracted.”
21. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
JBPH follows internationally recognized principles for the responsible and transparent use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in scholarly publishing.
- AI tools cannot be authors or co-authors. Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical standards of their work.
- Authors may use AI tools for language editing, translation, coding, or other legitimate research assistance, but must critically verify all AI-assisted content not more than 15%.
- Substantive use of generative AI in manuscript preparation must be disclosed to the journal, including the tool used and its purpose.
- AI must not be used to fabricate or manipulate data, results, images, references, or other scholarly content.
- Authors, reviewers, and editors must protect confidential, unpublished, and personal information when using AI tools.
- JBPH may request clarification regarding AI use and may take appropriate action, where AI use compromises research integrity or publication ethics.
